[Discuss] installpkg error #2

hey (still haven't tried the live edition. just verifying the image,
now) do you think all the fatal errors have anything to do with my
inode settings? i can't remember exactly the words used, but slackware
said if i was going to have many small files, i might want to have 1
per 2048 or even per 1024 (bytes? kilobytes?). i might have put it at
1 per 4096, the default. perhaps that skewed a smooth installation.

i also noticed that different tgz files gave me different fatal errors
the third attempt (with an image through bittorrent, this time).

oops! verification complete and good! time to try out kill bill slackware! yay.

failing that, i've also re-burned mandriva disc 2. i guess i might
have burned the wrong image to it the first time since there were four
to choose from.

failing that, debian interests me. there's a business card version of
that i might sample, first, although i'm a bit concerned i won't get
an accurate idea of the software included in the full package. tex and
source.

this is how we learn the ropes, learn the ropes, learn the ropes....

cheers,

tim
