The price is directly related to the location of the vendor and the number
of items they move.
The supplier I get this power supply from pays $36.50
To bring this item in, my cost breakdown would be:
Item base cose -> $36.50
Supplier Markup of 10% -> $3.65
GST $2.41
Flat rate shipping cost -> $10.00 (only item brought in)
My Total Item Cost for personal use -> $52.56
Now, if I want to sell the item and actually make a couple dollars on it,
the breakdown would be
Item base cose -> $36.50
Supplier Markup of 10% -> $3.65
My Markup -> $4.02
GST -> 2.65
PST -> 3.09
Price of item without shipping -> $49.91
Total money in my pocket on this item $4.02 (8% of total sales price) and
that's without any shipping costs.
If I could get the item for the same price as my supplier....
But I can't and I will not deal NCIX. I don't like their Sales Policy.
This section stops me from purchasing ANYTHING from them :
"No refunds will be issued for blank media, digital cameras (and
accessories), opened software, printers, printer supplies, paper, projectors
(and accessories), appliances, handhelds, PDAs, notebook computers, special
order computers and special order items. "
I can see opened software but printers, handhelds, PDS's, notbook computers
....

Yup, I can understand that... I used to live in Abbotsford, and even out
there we'd see a difference in prices vs. Vancouver.
What I don't understand, though, is why the difference in prices is so steep
out here. I certainly don't mean to single you out, of course, but take the
Sparkle ATX-350PN you mentioned in your message -- that could be ordered at
retail prices from NCIX in Vancouver
(http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=17702) *with* Purolator ground
shipping to your door for less. CAD$46.10+tax, to be exact. And yours is
still one of the cheapest prices I've found out here. :)

It's just for one of my older headless PIII development servers, so I just
need a generic 300-350W ATX PSU -- nothing fancy. I used to get 'em for
under $25 from my supplier in Coquitlam, although I used to send them a lot
of business so they cut me pretty good deals.
Thanks,
Steve
