[Discuss] Router Security Issue - Most home routers 'vulnerable to remote take-over'

I have a Linksys WRT54G that I flashed with
DDWRT<http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/ddwrt.php>
;
It's nice because among many other features, it allows for disabling of UPnP
- I found that with international students living in my house (heavy
internet users ;) ), having UPnP enabled cause a lot of network slowdowns.
Once I disabled it - no more network slowdowns. That aside, I am also quite
suspicious of a 'feature' that will allow any random app to open ports
without my knowledge or say so.
This article seems to back up that suspicion - thanks for passing it along,
Kari.
